ARTHUR KOCH
The Body Language of Trees
Arthur Koch has been working in wood since the early 60's. The body of work for the exhibition represents the artist's thinking about nature versus artifice. He examines natural material left quite untouched by human hands and, conversely, natural material which he has saw-cut or smoothed to exaggerate the wood's own marking. His constant questioning of the nature of beauty ultimately creates a dialogue between the nature of wood and the spirit of Arthur Koch.
REINHARD ZIEGLER
In and Around Small Town America
A German-born, Dallas-based, artist, Reinhard Ziegler bridges the boundaries between photography and painting through his hand-colored photographs. Small Moments in and Around Small Town America is based on impressions of rural America captured throughout fifteen years of travels all over the country with a focus on the Southwest and Northeast. The exhibition explores the thriving and dying locales strewn across the American landscape…some in the last throes of decay and others wrapped in the subtle beauty of bygone days.
