Al Souza
New Works
For the last two decades Al Souza has worked masterfully with every day materials and common subject matters. Culling materials from a world of excess, Souza creates dynamic compositions the eye compulsively traverses. Each of the works in the current exhibition is composed of thousands of layered jigsaw puzzle pieces in loose and semi-completed chunks
Erwin Redl
New Drawings
The formal and structural approach to the various media employed by Austrian born Erwin Redl, reflects upon the condition of art making after the "digital experience" and almost requires binary logic. Installations, CD-ROM, drawings, internet and sound are assembled according to a narrow set of self-imposed rules inspired by computer code which often incorporate algorithms and controlled randomness.
In anticipation of a large scale LED installation in January of 2006, Conduit will exhibit a series of drawings. Visually the drawings are simple shapes e.g. lines, circles and squares, which offer the artist a laboratory for structural experiments without the obstacles of large-scale production logistics.

VASCO ARAÚJO
Recent Video
Installation and video artist Vasco Araújo distills operatic drama and spectacle into intimate video art that addresses such issues as identity, otherness and fate. Opera, singing and divas are the materials he works with as other artists work with paint, clay, wood or any other media. Opera is his raw material, because he knows, commands and practices it. Conduit Gallery will exhibit an overview of Vasco's videos created since 2001 on two screens that will serve as Vasco's first exhibition in Dallas.
Vasco Araújo was born in 1975 in Lisbon, Portugal where he currently lives and works. He earned his advanced degree in Fine Art at Maumaus, School of Fine Arts and Photography, Lisbon, and his degree in Sculpture at F.B.A.U.L., Lisbon. In 2003 Vasco was awarded the EDP New Artist Prize. Solo exhibitions include Yuill Crowly Gallery, Sydney, Australia; Cesar Filomena Gallery, Lisbon, Portugal and ARCO Contemporary Art, Madrid, Spain.
