Erwin Redl
FADE IV
Erwin Redl will create an immersive site-specific installation at in Conduit Gallery's main space, blocking out all ambient light making the exhibition a complete sensory experience. The formal and structural approach to the various media employed by Austrian born Redl, reflects upon the condition of art making after the "digital experience" and almost requires binary logic. His projects, which range from installations, CD-ROMs, drawings, internet and sound pieces are assembled according to a narrow set of self-imposed rules inspired by computer code which often incorporate algorithms and controlled randomness.
Born in Gröhl, Austria, Erwin Redl earned a BA in Composition and an Electronic Music Diploma at the Music Academy in Vienna, Austria. He also earned his MFA in Computer Art at the School of Visual Art in New York, New York. Erwin Redl is currently featured in the Ecstasy exhibition at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art. Fahamu Pecou
NEO POP & Circumstance
What began as half experiment, half marketing campaign has become a low fi cultural phenomenon in the Atlanta art scene. Working as a graphic illustrator for various rap and hip-hop acts in Atlanta, Fahamu Pecou was interested in the self-marketing and persona building antics of music and television celebrities. Pecou began an active sticker campaign, which has filtered into a body of paintings depicting the artist himself on a number of different high brow periodicals.
Fahamu Pecou earned his B.F.A. in painting from the Atlanta College of Art in 1997 and has since been working in Atlanta. In 2005 Pecou has exhibited in several venues including the Art, Beats and Lyrics exhibition at the High Museum in Atlanta, GA; Schroeder Romero Gallery, NY, NY; Allares, Portobelo, Panama; The Pool Art Fair, New York, NY and Ty Stokes Gallery, Atlanta, GA. This exhibition will be Fahamu's first in Texas.
