Lance Letscher
New Work
Lance Letscher finds beauty in geometry, harmonizing color and bits of old paper. He translates that beauty into substantive collages that evoke serenity, nostalgia and shared experience. In composing his collages, each cut piece of paper fits together into an intricate web with rhythmic precision. He is truly an engineer of poetry, but there are no mechanics here. This is work in which the hand of the artist is clearly evident, and in which the care for words and visual writing fall in with an intrinsic sense of color to create constructions of harmony and beauty.
Vincent Falsetta
New Work
Continuing his investigation of abstract gesture, process, and expression, Mr. Falsetta's newest body of work features primitive cascades and vertical striations of color that are at once streaming, free, spontaneous, controlled, partitioned, and deliberate. Using brushes, cardboard, spreaders, palette knives, and dry wall spatulas to achieve rich texture, Falsetta achieves deliberate spontaneity.
PROJECT ROOM
Ellen George
Out of Doors
Vancouver, Washington artist Ellen George's sculptural installation Out of Doors will be her second in Conduit Gallery's Project Room.
Drawing inspiration from light, sound and silence, her biomorphic elements are hand formed in polymer. They seem to spring forth from a world all their own, bringing to mind variations in nature and biology. The arrangements are composed of diminutive sculptures placed in variations of pattern and order. Always self-referential at the start, these configurations expand as George examines an association, mood or moment, seeking an interpretation that speaks quietly, but with strength.
Recent exhibitions include PDX Gallery, Portland, OR; Tacoma Art Museum, Tacoma, WA; Keith Bates Gallery, Manchester, England; Bellevue Art Museum, Bellevue, WA and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY
