Ellen Berman
Recent Paintings

Ellen Berman's oil on canvas paintings answer our notions of traditional still life and surpass those expectations by becoming both a scientific examination of light, form and material and at the same time express the profound beauty of crystalline and still objects. With Berman's economic and generous brushstrokes the subjects of her works: persimmons, pears, cloths and ceramics have cheated the biological cycle of birth, growth and decay to stay forever perfect and quietly whole.

Christopher Mast
Recent Photographs

Conduit Gallery will feature the first exhibition of photographs by Dallas artist Christopher Mast. In 2002 Mr. Mast received an M.F.A. from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and has since been teaching Photography at the University of North Texas, Southern Methodist University and Brookhaven Community College. Mr. Mast photographs explore the structures defining our ever changing cityscapes, examining not only the girders that support, but the planes of color provided by walled spaces. They examine the often-contradictory conditions of our modern landscape that is often in transition, but one too, that is often as beautiful as it is banal.

Matthew Bourbon
Begining with the End

Beginning with the End represents eight isolated moments, not one connected to the other, but similarly distilled from an illusive interaction. These interactions are collected by the artist from photographs, movies, magazine advertising and comic books. Matthew Bourbon transforms the inherent messages of these sources in order to redefine or enhance their pictorial meaning. The end result is an array of techni-colored visual dreams that evoke a multitude of meanings and voyeuristic intrigue.
Matthew Bourbon earned a B.F.A. from the University of California, Davis and an M.F.A. from the School of Fine Arts in New York. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Painting at the University of North Texas in Denton. He has continued to show both in New York and Californina since relocating to Texas.
