Working with vibrant enamels, the highly reflective surfaces of Matt Clark’s newest works belie the depth of color and atmosphere that reside within the two-dimensional paintings.
In the abstractions, through repeated movements of starts, stops and pauses of paint, the subject of the colorful paintings becomes the activity of the artist’s hand.
Fort Worth based Matt Clark earned an M.F.A. in Painting from Cranbrook University in Michigan in 2002. He then lived in London, England and Los Angeles, California before relocating to Fort Worth in 2009. This will be the second exhibition of Matt Clark’s paintings at Conduit Gallery.
