Homosexuals are Ruining My Life
For his second solo exhibition at Conduit Gallery, Heyd Fontenot will incorporate his trademark figurative portraits into a more complex pastiche of images. For the exhibition, he will construct a site-specific large scale structure in reference to a domestic setting. This fabricated environment will pay homage to his love of decorative design while commenting on attempts at "nesting" and status lifestyles. This structure will become the vehicle for which the drawn and painted portraits are considered.
Heyd Fontenot is currently the director at Centraltrak Artist Residency in Dallas, Texas. His work was included in the 2009, 2007, and 2005 Texas Biennials and included in the landmark Contemporary Exotic Drawings at the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art in Ridgefield, CT. Solo exhibitions since 2007 include; the Pouch Cove Foundation in Newfoundland, Canada, Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, the University of Maryland in College Park, MD, Allegheny College in Meadville, PA and Inman Gallery in Houston.
