Ellen
Berman
Clear
Traditional still life becomes both a scientific examination of light,
form and surface and an expression of the profound beauty of crystalline
and still objects. Known for her acute renderings of fruits and vegetables,
the newest paintings have moved into the realm of clear glass pitchers
and glasses depicting topographical etchings on the glass as well as
clusters of calabash and groupings of fruits. The end result is a wonderful
juxtaposition between the real and the represented.
