Each painstakingly intricate painting takes the viewer to an isolated island world where
dimensions emerge and disappear, day and night coexist and the rocky landscape folds infinitely into
patterned terrain. Christopher Schade uses the island form to paint people, animals, plants, architecture, mechanical
objects, portraits and landscapes simultaneously. The openness of the morphologic islands creates
a space for freedom as well as contradiction.
