Michael Roch's work frequently juxtaposes comic animal imagery against minimal formal constructions.
There is a ubiqutious sense of comedy/tragedy that accompanies the often surprising combination of materials in his work.
The humble materials, plaster, gypsum, dry-wall and joint compund, visually provoke tales told and untold and speak to a larger
understanding and even balance of humanism and it's unwitting cousin barbarism.
