Susie Phillip's latest body of work continues her foray into still life
painting, choosing not to render her objects with placid and calm imagery,
but with a bold and skewed perspective reminiscent of the later still
lifes of Cezanne and Matisse. Susie Phillip’s flattened pictures,
with neither foreground nor background, but simply the surface of the
work, indulge in romantic energy. Susie Phillips has been exhibiting her
work in Dallas since 1978. This exhibition marks the seventh at Conduit
since becoming affiliated with the gallery in 1988. Ms. Phillips is well
collected in numerous private and corporate collections including; A.H.
Belo, Southwestern Bell, American Airlines, Crescent Collection and the
Barrett Collection.
