"The paintings and drawings are essentially portraits, despite the frequent inclusion of embellishment or exaggeration.
Using my friends as models allows me to meditate on their individual qualities and uniqueness. By endeavoring to record the spark
that initiated and perpetuates my bond with the subjects, I search for
the physical and non-physical information that allows for a sense of intimacy.
These same models are also utilized as characters in more general and
abstract narratives about the human condition and our common, universal
struggles. I'm engaged in an extremely elemental form of play, constructing
scenarios that illustrate an internal mythology. Within my work, the dichotomous
topics of morality, spirituality and sexuality are wrestled and revisited."
